Friday, 26^TH FEBRUARY 2016

          For our first social engagement activity, we went to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana (SK Sri Kelana) which located at Petaling Jaya. It is my first experience to communicate with specials kids. The short visit which took our half day however able to give me the feel of grateful. Before we started our activity, we did some warming up with these kids. During this moment, I do realise how lucky I am to be a normal person. I do not have any difficulties in doing such a simple activity but they do. This situation also suddenly capture my attention and it gives me a hint to try helping the kids. After warming up we were doing some ice breaking session. I get along with them quite well and it helps me a lot in understanding these students condition. The most important thing is, I did gain some skill to communicate with these special children.

Friday, 4^TH MARCH 2016

          Our second visit is to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kelana Jaya (SMK Kelana Jaya) which is also located at Petaling Jaya. The secondary school students have a more aggressive attitude compare to primary school students. We also need to use different way to approach them. If at the Sri Kelana, during ice breaking session, we just gain their attention with a simple introduction. However, here it is quite hard to attract their attention. So, while my others group member is setting up the games equipment, I try to have short conversation with some of them, making jokes and tell them a bit more about us. I had to admit that this time is more challenging than before. They were brave enough to disobey the orders. Even though it is a little bit difficult to control the situation, I did enjoy the moment with them because I can feel their lively spirit deep in my heart.

Sunday, 27^TH MARCH 2016

          The third activity is about Car Free Day which held at Dataran Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ). All car are forbidden to enter this area due to the priority to the public to ride a cycle for about 7 km. During this day each of us is given specific task. I was assign to take care of buttons badge and t-shirts booth together with few of my friends. I also help my friends to conduct a survey about OKU. There were lots of activity being held like skateboard and roller blade contest. What I gain is how the partner of OKU people help them in their movement during doing the activities. It is interesting, yet very helpful in our daily life if we have the skill in helping OKU. Besides, I think we need to continue improving our OKU’s facilities and increase the awareness among us about their inability.

Friday, 8^TH APRIL 2016

          Sekolah Kebangsaan Jenis Cina Sam Yoke is located at Sungai Besi and it takes us about fifth teen minutes to reach there. Luckily, we did not trapped in traffic jammed since we travel early in the morning. We were conducting a smaller amount of student compare to the other two schools. Each group only about fifth teen students. However, this time is more challenging since most of them are low function student and I cannot really understand what they are saying. But, it is an interesting experience since I also try my best to use Mandarin languages to communicate with the students.

Friday, 6^TH MAY 2016

          Our activity is held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana once more with mostly were the same students during our first visit. What makes it different this time only the activities that we prepared for them. Our second visit including outdoor and indoor activities and what I can see is, these children seems to enjoy expressing their creativity through drawing and colouring. I do have some chances to have a short conversation with the teachers. Most of the Program Pendidikan Khas Integerasi (PPKI) teachers are welcoming any volunteers who which to come there. As for my opinion, I do think that these kind of bond should be strengthen to increase the acknowledgement of outsider that these kid can do what others kid do in a different way and that makes them unique.

SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN SERI KELANA (26.2.2016).

TIME	ACTIVITIES
7:00 am	All of us gathered at our own college, waited for car that sent us to Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kelana. We gathered at 7.00am because we need to be there at 8.00am.
8:00 am	At 8.00am, all of us already at the school. While waiting for the teacher gather the student, we took a few minutes to take picture as proof. We took picture at front of the school gate, started from first group and followed by others group.
8:10 am	We walked into the school, and went to the school’s field because the teachers and students waited us there. There’s about 60 students, who had joined this social engagement with us.
8:15 am	The teachers left the students under our guardian. First, we started the program with warming up to get their attention, conducted by two of our members, Zarith and Danes. After doing a few step of warming up, we split the students into two groups. Each group made a big round by holding each other hands. My group conducted by Kang, introduced his name to the students. Continued the next person beside Kang until the last person introduced their name. All the students and facilitator must introduced their selves.
8:45 am	We gathered the students back, and called out their name to divide them into three groups. Each group consisted of 20 students. I joined with the first group. The first activity, the student had to run 20 metres. At the end, two of us that recorded the time and noted the record. Each student had to repeat this activity, 3 times because we had to see their improvement. Adawiyah and I handled the students, because we afraid that the students went to somewhere else, it’s hard to make them stay. I talked to a few student, while they waited for their turn. There was a student asked me, how’s my university’s life. And I replied that it’s great and meet new friend, new environment. Then he asked me to wait him, because he also want to study at UM. That’s conversation made me overwhelmed.
9:05 am	All the group finished their first activity. We stopped and let the students had their break first. All of us and the students went to the canteen to eat. The teachers had prepared roti canai to the students. Some of us had bought nasi lemak at the canteen, and I had a bread that I brought from college.
9:30 am	Finished ate, the students gathered back at the field and continued the next activity. My group continued with second activity, which is the student to have to run in zig zag and hold a ball. We also recorded the time taken and noted it. The students had to repeat 3 times also. I’ve changed with my member, I handled recorded the time.
10:00 am	My group went to the last activity. The last activity, the student had to run through the cone that had been arranged by us with a ball on their hand. They had to repeat this 3 times. At this time, I helped Farisha handled the students, make sure that the students stayed in line. We finished all the three activities without any problem.
10:30 am	We moved to the next session. We had measured their height and weight. We recorded the reading and noted that. We remained the same group as we already used to each other, and easy to handle them. After that, we continued with sit and reach. They had to repeat 3 times as we wanted to see the average of it. Next, we tested the stability. They had to stand with one leg for 30 seconds. Only a few of them can make it to the end.
11:30 am	All the group already done all the activities. We gathered all the students and the teachers to take picture for memories. We took a few minutes to arrange the student so the picture looked nice. All of us, lined up, because the students had to say good bye and thank you to all of us. I felt sad as I already get along with them, and I had to leave them. I hope that I can meet them in another time.
12:00 noon	We walked out the school and waited for the car to back to the college. I felt sad as I already get along with them, and I had to leave them. I hope that I can meet them in another time.

          

 SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEBANGSAAN KELANA JAYA (4.3.2016).

TIME	ACTIVITIES
7:00 am	Same from previous one, all of us gathered at our own college, waited for the car to send us to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kelana Jaya. We need to reach there before 8.00am, so that’s why we gathered earlier.
8:00 am	All of us reached there exactly 8.00am. Before we entered the school, also same from the previous one, we took pictures at the school’s front gate group by group.
8:15 am	We went to the school’s field as the teachers and the students waited for us. There were about 60 students took part in this program. From what I saw, all the equipment already there. Foo Soon and Eric talked to the teachers about the activities while the rest of us waited for their order to start the activities.
8:30 am	All of us split and surrounded the students before we started to warm up. Danes conducted the warming up. It was a bit harder than the previous one for us to handle them as they’re secondary schooler. After finished the warmed up, we split the students into 3 groups. We sat in group and made a big round. Danes leaded our group, by introduced his name. Then followed the next person that next to him. Until the last person introduced her name.
9:00 am	My group started with run with a ball in zig zag. I helped my group with recorded the time taken of the students to complete the run. Meanwhile next to me, Amanda noted the time taken on a paper. We repeated this activity 3 times, so we could see the average.
9:30 am	We took 30 minutes to finish this, and we let them to go to canteen as it’s already rest time. All of us took a few minutes, discussed about next activities before joined the students ate at the canteen. Nadzira and I joined a group of female students, and had a little chit chat with them.
10:00 am	We continued next activity. As for my group, next activity was the students had to run 20 metres. Yee Yun and I changed the task. I had to handle the students, make sure that the students stayed in the group without causing any problem. Some of the students hard to handle, since as a Muslim, I’m not supposed to touch the boy. They had to repeat 3 times to complete this activity.
10:30 am	We moved to the next activity, which was the last activity, before we started the next session. The student had to run through the cone that had been arranged by us with a ball on their hand. They had to repeat this 3 times. For this activity, I also helped my group member by handled the students. I talked to a few of them, asked about how’s their school’s life, happy or not with our presence. Luckily they replied me pleasantly.
11:00 am	Finished all the activities, we moved to the next session, which were measured their height, weight and did sit and reach. We remained the same group, and my group started with sit and reach. We noted 3 records of the reading of sit and reach. Next, we measured their height and followed with the weight. Our group finished it first, and took a break while waited for other group for the next session.
11:30 am	Next session was tested the stability. The students had to stand with one leg for 30 seconds. Some of them fell just in a second. They were just so innocent to me. But, there were a few of them can make it to the end.
12:00 noon	All of us gathered, along the teachers and students for photography session. After took some photos, the students went back to their homes, and us make our way to go back to college. I’m glad that I was able to meet them and shared a beautiful memories.

    
CAR FREE DAY (27.3.2016).

TIME	ACTIVITIES
7.00 am	We gathered at our own gate’s college. As for this activity, we went to Dataran Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ). We need to be there early, since we had to set up the things to be done before the activity started.
7.30 am	All of our member arrived. Our booth near the stage. For the boys, they had to lift a few things, to put at the booth. And for the girls, set up the things under the booth, such as arranged t-shirt, button batch, present, and games.
8.00 am	Mr. Amirul distributed us the job. As for me, I been paired up with Fakhrul, in charge to handle the bicycle. If a person want to borrow the bicycle, they had to pay RM5 per hour, and we needed to record it in a form.
8.30 am	This event started with ‘zumba’. At this hour, En. Amirul let us to join the Zumba, because the first activity was cycling. Some of us enjoyed the Zumba so much.
9.00 am	Fakrul and I watched out the bicycle at outside of the booth. At first, both of us handled it together, but as the times goes, we decided to take turn to in charge. I let him go first, and handled it alone.
10.00 am	Four girls came closed to me, and asked if they can use the bicycle. I told them about the fee and they agreed to pay. I had to wait for them for an hour. In the time, I went in the booth, and watched a few people played the big ‘dam haji’.
11.00 am	The girls sent back the bicycle exactly after an hour. I changed with Fakhrul, and this time he had to take care of the bicycle. Before I left him, there’s a woman with 2 of her kids also wanted to borrow the bicycle. I helped Fakhrul recorded it in the form.
12.00 noon	The event was about to end. The woman gave the bicycle back, a few minute late. Then, we started to tidy up the booth. But we waited for the lucky draw. Foo Soon, one of our member was lucky, and got the rice cooker as the present.
12.30 noon	After finished tidy up the booth, we went to KFC to eat, as all of us already starved. All of us enjoyed the meal.
1.15 pm	As soon as finished eat, we went back to college. There still have left over, few of us took and brought it back to college.

    

     

SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN JENIS CINA SAM YOKE (8.4.2016)

TIME	ACTIVITIES
7.00 am	We went to the school located at Sungai Besi, and took about 20minutes to arrive at the school. My friends and I waited for others as we the first one reached there.
7.30 am	Exactly at 7.30am, all of us already there. We waited for the teachers as they had to bring the students to the court. We met the students at the court. Since last night, it was heavy raining, it was dangerous for us to do the activity at the school’s field.
8.00 am	We greeted the teachers and students, before we started to warm up. We split and stand every corner of the students as we had to take care of them. This time, Theng and Jiayou conducted the warmed up.
8.15 am	We split the students into 3 small groups. As for my group, we started with run through the cone that already arranged by us with a ball. It was hard at first, and Kang leaded them with patient. I was in charge to record the time taken. They had to repeat 3 times.
8.45 am	Our group finished the first activity, and gave them a break to drink the water before started the next activity. We started the next activity with they had to run in 20 metres and repeat 3 times. We finished this activity without any problems.
9.30 am	It’s time for them to eat. For me and my other Muslim friends, they provided us some bread, since we were at Chinese school, and the foods was no halal.
10.15 am	We continued the next activity. For my group, we continued with run in zig zag with a ball, and they had to repeat 3 times also. Fauzi and I handled the students, in order to make sure they were not went to another place.
10.30 am	We the first group finished all three activities. So we took the free time a break while waited for other group. I talked to few students but it was a bit difficult for me, as they spoke in Chinese language. I can’t understood what were they said. I also took a few photos with them.
11.00 am	All the group finished all the activities, and we moved to next session, which were measured their height, weight and did sit and reach. We remained the same group, and my group started with sit and reach. We noted 3 records of the reading of sit and reach. Next, we measured their height and followed with the weight. Then, we tested the stability. The students had to stand with one leg for 30 seconds. Some of them fell just in a second. They were just so innocent to me. But, there were a few of them can make it to the end.
12.00 noon	Finished all the session, we gathered the teachers and students to take a picture. While waiting for the head master, they sang a birthday song, since it was my birthday. I’m about to cry because I’m too happy had a chance to celebrate it with them. After took some picture, we left the school happily as we done good this time.

      

SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN SRI KELANA (6.5.2016).

TIME	ACTIVITIES
7.15 am	We gathered at the college’s gate together, and departed. As this was the second time we went to the school, so it was easier for us than before.
7.45 am	We arrived at the school and met the teachers and students at the school’s canteen. As soon as they saw us, they had happy smiley face. Some of them do remembered us. Foo Soon explained to us the activity will held on that day. As for me and Adawiyah, we had assigned to make a video shooting as this was the last social engagement. Since En. Amirul not arrived yet, we joined the others handle the student.
8.00 am	As usual we started our activity with warmed up. Theng was the one conducted the warming up session. After that, we divided them into 3 groups. I joined Desmond’s group, and helped him handled the students with another members.
8.30 am	We started our first activity, which was bring the water with sponge, and filled in the bottle at the other side. We had two times because the first one wasn’t good enough as they weren’t paying much attention during the demonstration.
9.15 am	We continued the next activity. Next, they had to pair up with their friends, and tied their leg together as we wanted to see the cooperation between them. As from what I’ve saw, many of them can make it to the end.
9.45 am	We took a break, and let them had their meal. For me and Adawiyah, En. Amirul gave us two cameras in order to make the video shooting. Adawiyah and I had a little discussion about how we wanted the video to be done, using our own creativity. So, we decided to separate, as Adawiyah, she accompanied by Aqilah, went to interview the head master. And as for me, I had to stay with the students, and made a video of them during the activity.
10.30 am	We continued the activity at the school’s hall. 2 activity will be held. First, drawing using the magic card. Second, colouring book. During these two activity, I did the video recorded by using my own creativity. I recorded almost every second, as later Adawiyah and I will edit it, so I had to capture as many as I can. Sometimes, I did joined a few group, I talked to them, tried to be close to them.
11.30 am	Adawiyah and I went to somewhere quiet with 3 teachers, for the interview to put in the video. The teachers were very funny and sporting, Adawiyah and I enjoyed did the interview with them.
12.00 noon	We finished the interview, and went back to the hall. We arrived and saw there’s no students and assumed that the activity done. We took picture among us, as this was the last social engagement for us. Then we went to college.
