This Social Engagement Course is really a good platform for all of us to really enroll ourselves in social activities. We started our preparation to conduct this project a month earlier. We had gathered to discuss the whole programme flow of this project. Before the event day, we gathered and had a discussion to make sure our projects to be successful.

On 26th of February 2016, we departed to SK Sri Kelana. Our first action when we reach there was to interact with the children. We had to make them feel comfortable with our presence there . We gathered all the children and started our programme with a basic stretching and warming up, to avoid any injuries during the event. Then we grouped them according to name list and brought them to our checkpoints. We had four games with them. We really had a good time with the students because they gave their utmost cooperation while participating in the activities that we organized.Everyone in our team felt proud and took pride in being able to put a smile on the faces of those young kids with special needs.

On 4th March 2016, we departed to SMK Kelana Jaya. We had a warm welcome where the teachers guided us to the location where all the children gathered. To make sure the children did not get injured , we started our session by doing some stretching and warming up exercise. We grouped them and moved to our checkpoints as planned. We were expecting a much tougher challenge in controlling the students over there because of the age difference between them and the students that we handled over in our previous visit to SK Sri Kelana Jaya. However,we were able to overcome this problem as our had team had already anticipated this beforehand and taken all the necessary precautions to ensure that our trip went smoothly without any problems.

On 27th March 2016, we went to MBPJ . We gathered at the MBPJ compound at 7.00 as we were told the event will start very early. Then we unloaded things from a minivan and set up our tent. We had mini games such checkers, snakes and ladders. Not to forget about our bicycle ride. We had various types of bicycle for civilians to try and they had to pay rm10 for a ride. I was in charge of the mini games registration counter. Believe me or not , we had our first guest just after 5 minutes we opened registration. Since taking care registration counter is not a big deal, I helped guiding in the checkers part. Some of the players were unable to understand the rules, so I thought them. I had a good time with the players and learned new techniques to play as well. On the other side, small kids were enjoying the snakes and ladders, and surprisingly even veteran joined snake and ladders. Few of my friends were distributing the flyers to people .We were done with all activities at about 12.00 pm. We loaded all the things back to the minivan and moved to nearby KFC because our organizer promised us to buy us some tasty, crunchy delicious chicken , so we made ou move to KFC. That was the end of story for our project on 27th March . We went back to college after that.

On 6th May we went to Sri Kelana.

After approximately three months,we went to the same school where we started this project,SK Sri Kelana. But this time we carried out a different set of activities to the one we carried out in our previous visit.Eventhough it was already three months since our last visit,we were still fresh in the memories of the children. This time around,we carried out a different set of activities that were meant to entertain the children.Three legged race, transferring water with a sponge, sketching and drawing were some of the activities that we organized during that day.Overall,it was a good day at work because the kids were more friendly towards the whole team as they knew us better personally.

In conclusion, I am happy enough to be involved in this project with these group of people. Plus, it also taught me to be grateful with what I have. The people staying at the home lead their everyday life with what they have. They were cheerful all the time and they did not complain a single bit where as we, the more fortunate ones are never satisfied with what we have and always complain and demand for more. I am really proud of my groupmates because I believe we did a good job as a group. Thumbs up to the mural painting team because they managed to finish up not one but two murals within the two days. It was such an incredible achievement. Our effort and cooperation were rewarded with a appreciation certificate from the centre management who praised our hardwork and teamwork. So, as a whole this project was a big success.
